Wem Cricket Clubs junior section is one of the best in the midlands, which has been proven over the last two years. Out of an entry of 1704 teams, our U15 team reached the last 4 in England in the 2007 season, and the U15 team from the year before finished in the top 16. But here's how the 2007 team got there;

Game 1: County Final: Wem bt Worfield to reach the last 64

Game 2: 1st Qualifying round: Wem bt Forhouses to reach the last 32 in Enlgand!

Game 3: Final qualifying round: Wem bt Coombeswood

So yet again Wem made it to the last 16 in England, can they go one better than last years team......

Semi Final: Wem bt Tapcroft by 58 runs. The heroes with the bat were Chris Peel with a fine knock of 50(ret.) and a valuable knock of 41 from Alex Ollerotdog. So Wem took to the field with a defendable score of 140. Wem then cruised to victory by 58 runs, with Chris Peel again the hero taking 3-12 from his 4 overs, Danny Cohen also took figures of 2-24 and elder brother Matt bowled 4 tight overs for 11 and picking up 2 wickets along the way.

Final: Wem bt Olton + West Warwickshire by 6 runs!! So Wem won the toss and decided to bat first, Wem got off to a flyer thanks to Matthew Swift 51(ret.) and Matt Cohen 50(ret.) and set Olton a total of 137 to win from there 20 overs. Danny Cohen and Alex Ollerenshaw opened up and Cohen bowled 4 good overs taking 2-16 from them. So after 13 overs Olton were strongly placed requiring 5 an over with 8 wickets in hand, but then an inspiring spell of 2-13 from Jordy Kennedy and 2 tight overs at the end in which he also picked up 2 wickets from Matty Cohen turned the game around.... 1 over left, 13 to win, 2 wickets left and Alex Ollerenshaw to bowl...2 balls left, 6 to win, 1 wicket left. And soCometh the hour, cometh the man, Thomas Skone the new hero. Fielding out on the boundry a short ball is pulled hard and low to the deep mid-wicket boundary and Tom Skone runs to his left and takes it at shin height to win the game!!!

So on to Bournemouth....

Semi Final: Newport bt Wem
